Land Data - a Community Interest Company

Land Data became a Community Interest Company in January 2006 and is actively working to benefit the property community.

"Community Interest Companies (CICS) are limited companies with special additional features created for the use of people who want to conduct a business or other activity for community benefit, and not purely for private advantage. This is achieved by a "community interest test" and "asset lock", which ensure that the CIC is established for community purposes and the assets and profits are dedicated to these purposes.Registration of a company as a CIC has to be approved by the Regulator who also has a continuing monitoring and enforcement role”.

As a commitment to its Community Interest Status, Land Data is constantly looking at ways to support and benefit the community. At present Land Data is running Local Authority Stakeholder Group which is the first in a series of stakeholder committees. To ensure that the property community is represented, Land Data aims to set up a number of feedback and debating groups. There are plans to establish a legal stakeholder group and a consumer stakeholder group.
