Our supported charity

We support the work of Habitat for Humanity (HFH). HFH is a global charity offering practical assistance that enables poverty stricken families to help themselves.

Volunteers and homeowners work side by side

Habitat for Humanity is an international housing charity dedicated to the elimination of poverty housing and homelessness around the world. Founded in 1976, and now working in 92 countries around the world, Habitat for Humanity have built over 250,000 houses in partnership with people in need of safe, decent housing.

Based on the notion of giving a hand up rather than a handout, homeowners must commit around 500 hours of "sweat equity” in the building of their house and others in the community. They then pay back the cost of the house with a no profit affordable mortgage. This money is used to fund further builds around the world. To date over one million people who would otherwise be living in appalling poverty have benefited by working with Habitat for Humanity and are now living in safe, permanent housing.

Land Data is proud to support international housing charity 'Habitat for Humanity' (HFH) as our corporate charity. This year we chose to send our seasons greeting electronically and as a result the financial savings we made enabled us to sponsor the charity's latest campaign 'HopeBuilders.'

HopeBuilders enables a family living in poverty to build and own a decent affordable home.  Each home costs £1,235, which buys all the materials and labour to build a typical Habitat dwelling and the family invests up to 500 hours of their own labour, or "sweat- equity,'' into the building of the home.
