The day-to-day functioning of Land Data cic is carried out by a small, dedicated team:
Imtiaz Farookhi - Chairman
Imtiaz became Chairman of Land Data in 2005 combining this non-executive role with that of Chief Executive of NHBC (National House Building Council), a position he has occupied since April 1997. He was previously Chief Executive of Leicester City Council where he led the successful regeneration of the city centre. Until recently, he served on the national Learning and Skills Council, where he was prominent on skills and further education reform, and was a founder board member of the Environment Agency.
Alex Fraser - Chief Executive
Alex joined Land Data cic in 2005, having worked for three years at a senior level on a number of public sector projects involving large-scale transaction processing.
Originally a classics graduate, he started his career overseas as a management consultant specialising in information management. He then spent ten years in the investment banking sector, managing support services including IT, marketing, procurement and property.
Alex has also helped set up a business providing complementary medicine via the NHS, working mainly on funding and infrastructure development.
Jan Boothroyd - Deputy Chief Executive
Jan has worked on the NLIS project since 2001, prior to which she had a long career in public service, joining NLIS from Leeds City Council.
She is acknowledged as the leading Local Land Charges expert in England and Wales and is the author of Garner's Local Land Charges, known as "the bible" in legal circles. She was co-founder, in 1991, of the National Association of Local Land Charges Officers, which subsequently became the Local Land Charges Institute (LLCI) of which she was the inaugural President.
Jan sits on a wide variety of property search related working parties, including Form CON29. For good measure, Jan is also a PRINCE2 Registered Practitioner.
Steve Gill - Director of Operations and Technology
Steve has 30 years experience in local government, initially in Development Control and Strategic Planning and continued his career in statistics and information services. His work in corporate GIS systems resulted in an AGI (Association of Geographic Information) Award in 1998.
He has worked on the NLIS project since 2001 and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational effectiveness of the NLIS infrastructure. He works extensively with the NLIS Hub, Licensed Channels, data providers, system suppliers and industry and professional organisations.
Steve has lived and worked in Wales since 1978 and maintains good links with the Welsh councils, the National Assembly for Wales and Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA).
Justin Scott - Director of Marketing & Business Development
Justin joined Land Data in July 2008 with over ten years marketing experience. Justin has a degree in Corporate Communication and his previous role was as Senior Marketing Manager for the IIA - UK and Ireland, a professional body with over 160,000 global members.
Other previous roles include Marketing Manager at Valpak, the UK's largest provider of compliance and recycling solutions which helps over 5,000 UK businesses comply each year with the Packaging Waste Regulations. Justin was instrumental in developing the recycle-more brand and the bank locator which was built in conjunction with local authorities. This feature was so successful that it is now supporting the government's own national recycling brand.
Jo Gower-Crane - Head of Programme Development
Jo has been involved in the NLIS project since 1997 during the Bristol Pilot and joined NLIS full time in 2003. She is currently responsible for developing and managing collaborative relationships with Land Data stakeholders, ensuring that their information requirements are met and acting as a first point of contact where required.
Previous roles include NLIS Implementation & Technical Coordinator, Chair of the NLPG Technical Working Group, and Bristol's local land & property gazetteer custodian. She has also worked in a number of local government departments and undertaken both private sector and local government consultancy projects. Jo has a degree in Real Time Systems and has co-designed and implemented web-based GIS information management systems involving data capture, integrating backend systems and re-engineering business processes.
